Therapy FAQ's
new patient FAQ's
Getting started is simple. Complete the contact form on our website, and we’ll reach out to answer any questions and help determine the next steps. If we’re a good fit, we’ll guide you through the intake process, send your new client paperwork, and help you schedule your first virtual appointment.
Because therapy often involves discussing sensitive personal experiences, we do not offer complimentary consultations. Even brief conversations may involve confidential or clinically significant information that deserves the same level of care and professional standards as a therapy session. Our initial appointment is designed to give you adequate time to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and determine whether our practice is the right fit for your needs. This allows us to provide thoughtful recommendations while ensuring your privacy and confidentiality are protected.
We currently accept many major insurance plans, including:
- Cigna
- Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
- Aetna
- UnitedHealthcare (UHC)
We are also in the process of becoming a Medicare provider. If you have questions about your specific plan or coverage, please contact us before scheduling.
Payment is securely processed by credit or debit card through our encrypted electronic payment system. Your payment method is securely stored and charged automatically after each session.
Prior to your first appointment, you’ll be asked to complete several intake forms. These help us provide the best possible care and explain important office policies.
Forms include:
- Financial Policy & Fee Schedule
- Consent for Treatment
- HIPAA Privacy Notice
- Health Insurance Claim Form (if applicable)
These forms can be downloaded from our website and submitted securely before your appointment.
At this time, all therapy sessions are conducted virtually using a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Virtual therapy allows clients throughout Illinois to receive care from the comfort and privacy of their own home.
We kindly ask that appointments be canceled or rescheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are subject to the full session fee.
This policy allows us to make appointments available to other clients who may be waiting for care while maintaining a consistent schedule that supports quality treatment for everyone.
Your first session is an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy, review your history, explore your goals, and determine the most appropriate treatment approach. You’ll also have time to ask questions and learn more about how therapy works.
Treatment frequency depends on your individual needs and goals. Many new clients begin with weekly sessions, while others may transition to bi-weekly or monthly appointments as progress is made.

For many clients, virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person counseling. It offers greater flexibility, eliminates travel time, and allows you to participate from a private, comfortable environment while still receiving personalized, professional care.
